Are the Amiga Demopodcast and others dead?

March 15th, 2007

Noticed quite a few comments recently asking if this podcast is dead.

In a word no. I’ve just been very busy of late, should have really posted something to say as much. The main problem is whilst trying to get the “Love” demo out the door I was getting a bit disheartened by the fact it wouldn’t work. This lead to me getting out of the habit of posting. One thing lead to another, and now I’m quite busy at the moment working on other things.

I am still committed to producing the podcast, I recently renewed the domain. Life has now got even more hectic, in that I’ve got to move house shortly, but once I’m settled in at the new place I’ll try and get back into the habit of posting.

The MODcast and game intro podcasts haven’t really proved that successful. I will keep the MODcast going too and try and get a show out soon, as I recently renewed that domain also.

Apologies for not keeping you all informed, and thanks for staying subscribed.

Regards,

Terry

MORE disk space from my host! :P

September 6th, 2006

My hosting service provider is now giving even more disk space, for the low price of £5.25/month (paid quarterly).  I now get 110Gb disk space to go with my 1.1Tb/month bandwidth.

Check them out Servage.net. I should really get loads more demos out to fill it up, I’m only using 1.6Gb so far.

Amiga Demo Wins 1st Place at Assembly ‘06

August 10th, 2006

A true testament to the Amiga and the Amiga demoscene, that in this day (around 12 years since production ceased) that the Amiga can still hold its own in a demo competition.  It wiped the floor with the competition (mostly PC demos) and has an awesome soundtrack.

There is a video of it floating around, but I’m going to try and capture a better version of it (will have to use WinUAE as my Amiga isn’t up to the job with its 68030!!).

Well done to The Black Lotus, keep up the good work guys.

24-hour outage coming very soon

August 9th, 2006

I’m going to be moving my site to a different cluster with Servage, that supports Ruby on Rails, so there will be a 24 hour outage some time within the next 36-hours or so.

Just so you know I haven’t gone away.

Tribute to England’s Frank Lampard

July 2nd, 2006

The Lampard Loose CannonPoor old Frank Lampard just didn’t seem to get a break in Germany, and to continue that my brother lovingly created this.

Pass it on to anyone you know.

Today’s 2 hour outage!

June 28th, 2006

There were a few files left over from the hack still scattered around.

Damn the script kiddies. Well, it’s all cleaned up now, so hopefully no further problems should be encountered.

Sorry for the Outage!

June 21st, 2006

Sorry for the recent outage, it appears that the site has attracted enough attention to get hacked. :(

I’m investigating the issue at the moment, and will keep you updated. Please report any problems you discover to me at terry [at] amigademopodcast [dot] com.

Cheers

Next demo out on 03/05/2006

May 2nd, 2006

Had quite a few problems with the red sector demo. Had to crack out the A600 again, and there were quite a few issues with the ADF files I had. Basically, the loading sections (in between each part) didn’t exactly work properly (garbled graphics) and I’ve had to cut them from the resulting video.

Fortunately, every demo part worked as expected.

NEW : The MODcast - Amiga Music Audio Podcast (AAC/MP3)

April 22nd, 2006

I don’t think I have enough to do with my time, so I’ve started up another podcast.

This one is dedicated to Amiga Game/Demo Music, back in the days when writing music was limited to generally 4-channels (7 if you include TFMX Pro).

Head on over to http://www.themodcast.com and check it out.

I’m determined to use my disk space/bandwidth, if it kills me!

New Logo from “the demoscene”

April 21st, 2006

TMB from Scoopex had left some feedback, so I got in touch with him and asked if he could get his “scene veterans” to do me some Amiga Demo Podcast logos. And he sent two back to me.

So thank you Core for your efforts. Just got to see if I can get some of the other groups to provide me with some and then I’ll rotate the banner at the top :D

Just goes to show that the site is getting some recognition, at least.
