Demo Problems :(
October 20th, 2006I’ve been trying to capture Love for quite some time, with little success. I have tried all manner of things.
- Downloaded from pouet.net and Aminet, neither of these work.
- Downloaded disk images as ADFs and written them to disk and tried installing from them (which it won’t let me do, says that Disk 1 isn’t disk 1 [got disks from Back2Roots when it was still going).
- Even purchased some new floppy disks!!!
Basically, what’s happening is that it is packing up just before the two parallel plains of dots (in a rectangle) and the fractal part. It does come back, but 20 seconds of nothing isn’t good.
If anyone has a a working version (preferable HD installed) of Love then please can I have a copy.
For now I’m going to have to capture Budbrain. Will have that out over the weekend.
Sorry for the massive gap between demos, but it has been a bit disheartening. Think I’ll test demos before I put them to vote in future.
Thanks for your patience.

That happens (if I recall correctly) because you have a too fast computer, try clocking your emulation / turbo card slower and it should work fine. I forgot to synchronize the animation with realtime, and as at that time all amigas were nearly equal in CPU power, it worked fine at the time being. With a faster computer it will complete the rendering too quickly, and be left with nothing to show for a fair amount of time

The problem from the “Love” demo is that when two “anims” are displayed, the amiga switches to NTSC : once in an anim in the middle of the demo, and the one at the end, with the “Fairlight” logo. This makes the demo pretty hard to capture as one part.
