AmiZilla : Porting Mozilla Firefox to the Amiga
March 21st, 2006Contest to port Mozilla Firefox to Amiga OS exceeds $10,000
This would be absolutely awesome if this could be accomplished. I hate using AWeb 3 on my A1200. Hopefully it doesn’t just come out for Amiga OS4 only. I mean those AmigaOne machines aren’t proper Amigas even. They don’t even have a custom chipset, where’s the fun in that.
Update: Sadly, it appears that it is only an Amiga OS4+ project. Perhaps the Amiga 1200 is a whole new project in itself. I’d have a go, but never coded for the Amiga before, and haven’t really got a clue where to start.
Update (30/03/2006): Thanks to mihcael, but it would appear that one of the project guidelines is that it must work on OS3.0+ (including MorphOS). Excellent news. I hope that it does get ported. I want it! I’d imagine large amounts of memory (or at least Virtual Memory) would be required for Firefox, as it can be a bit “hungry” at times.
